Nimbella, a provider of serverless platforms, has been acquired by DigitalOcean

NewYork

Digital Ocean, (NYSE:DOCN), the cloud for developers, entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized businesses, today announced the acquisition of Nimbella, a provider of Serverless platforms.

Nimbella Serverless Platform eliminates the need for developers to be concerned with the technical aspects of developing APIs and microservices.

The acquisition will allow DigitalOcean to expand its capabilities into the rapidly developing function-as-a-service (FaaS) business and to add a serverless compute product to its already extensive portfolio.

In a blog post, Nimbella team has expressed the following

“We are grateful to our global community of developers who have used Nimbella Cloud to build their applications, as well as to our Nimbella Enterprise clients who have placed their trust in us to handle their business use-cases. During this next chapter of our development, we look forward to providing you with even more value.”

Nimbella is recognized by Forrester, CRN and Rishidot Research as one of the top Multi-cloud
platform that provides developers an easy to use serverless environment on Kubernets.

“The benefits of serverless capabilities should be accessible without a substantial learning curve, and users should expect functionality and price that is straightforward and predictable, according to the company. This is all made possible by Nimbella, which offers the same level of simplicity and open source software standards that are fundamental value propositions for DigitalOcean.”

Digital Ocean, The New York-based company has reached a market capitalization of about $8 billion last week.
